The Question
Who are you when the old role still works on paper but no longer fits?
Major change can alter how you understand yourself without changing the outside of your life at the same speed. The job is still there. Family roles remain. Bills still arrive. Other people may still relate to you exactly as they did before.
After Lorri’s 2010 near-death experience, the medical crisis ended. Returning to ordinary responsibility with a changed understanding of death and consciousness took longer.
This conversation focuses on reintegration: which parts of an old identity still fit, what happens when familiar roles become uncomfortable and how to live from a change that may be obvious to you long before it is obvious to anyone else.
Member Questions Welcome
Three questions to start with.
Which parts of the old identity still belong to you?
How do you change without turning every old commitment into a mistake?
What does reintegration look like when the people around you cannot see the change as clearly as you can?
